District III Championships at Rock Hall YC, MarylandJune 20 - 21
Story
Conditions were rough. The Comet class used the regatta as their
Nationals--18 entries--12 finished the one Saturday race; Only 6
sailed in the Sunday races!

Windmills: Race #1 (the only Saturday Race)--Blanton and Noble capsized.

Race 2--Sparwasser and Arnesen capsized but finished. Some damage to
Sparwasser's tiller/rudder connection required his retirement. Sherman
capsized. Harris Capsized on the way out to the start. Noble and
Coleman had gear failures that required them to retire before the
racing began.

The remaining 5 boats all completed the last 2 races...though Arnesen,
much closer to the top 4 in the final race, capsized at the leeward
mark. Lots of credit to the ever-learning Arnesen team in that they
were able to right their boat twice and finish all races on
Sunday...no significant damage. Sherman likewise had no significant
damage but felt the capsize was an end of the day for his young crew.

Windmill skippers and their crew will enjoy dinner on Saturday night (June 20) courtesy of the Windmill Class!
